When you have the Sleeve Gastectomy, about 75 percent of your stomach is removed. Many, like myself in the beginning, think that the sleeve is like a pouch that your stomach is inserted in. But it is not. It is truly a gastrectomy where 75 percent of the stomach is removed and the remaining part of the stomach is rolled into a long tube similar to a banana.
The part of the stomach that is removed actually produces the hormone ghrelin which is a hunger stimulating hormone. Just like any other hormone, an imbalance can affect you emotionally. So today was my first day to experience this so called imbalance. Not a fan!
I was able to take a very long nap. It was probably the most sleep I have gotten since three days before surgery. I woke up feeling much better. I was also able to get in my first shower since the surgery. That, I am a fan of!
For lunch today I had beef broth. it was left over from the sirloin that friend Sue had cooked in the instapot and then took the drippings and made a yummy broth. It was just as good the 2nd day as it was the first.
For dinner I had chicken broth. Again my friend made chicken in the instapot as she was making chicken a la king for her and her husband. So we make both out the liquids. Again it was good.
I had to take my medicine so as she was making her cream sauce for the dinner, she strained a little and put it to the side. It was just about a few spoons of the most delicious texture and it helped the crushed pills go down so smoothly.
In between I finished a proton shake and had several popsicles today.
Over all, a huge success with food intake. I need to get better on the hydration intake. I'll work on that tomorrow!!!
